River Plate fan gets QR code tattoo to YouTube vid showing win over rivals Boca Juniors… which is hilariously taken down due to copyright infringement

A RIVER PLATE fan's unconventional commitment to his club has hilariously backfired after he inked a QR code tattoo to a video showing their win over rivals Boca Juniors.

The avid supporter's unique plan painfully backfired when Boca fans persuaded YouTube to remove the footage after complaining that it was copyright infringement.

The plan was that whenever a phone hovered above the code on his leg, a clip of River's 5-3 Copa Libertadores win over their arch-rivals would automatically play.

The short video the tattoo linked to, titled “La Gloria Eterna!!!”, also showed the team’s post-match celebrations and the lifting of the trophy.

However, after the footage circulated widely online, petty rival supporters had the recording banned rendering the bizarre inking meaningless.

The peculiar incident is the latest story to fuel the huge rivalry between the Buenos Aires sides that threatened to boil over during the historic match in December.

An attack on the Boca Juniors team bus by hordes of angry River Plate fans before the second leg led to its postponement and eventual relocation to the Bernabeu.

Dario Benedetto gave Boca the lead in Spain just before half-time but Lucas Pratto equalised midway through the second half.

With the aggregate score tied at 3-3 thanks to the first-leg 2-2 draw on November 11, the final went to extra time, where Juan Fernando Quintero fired the 'hosts' in front.

Lucas Pratto then scored in the second minute of injury time to complete the famous win which will no doubt live long in the memory for this River Plate fan anyway.
