Rival fans not impressed as Harry Kane to be awarded OBE for World Cup performances

SunSport revealed the Tottenham ace and Three Lions chief Gareth Southagte are set to be honoured by the Queen.

Spurs star Kane netted six times in Russia to land the Golden Boot as England made the semi-finals.

But rival supporters were quick to point out half of his goals came from penalties and England did not win the tournament.

Arsenal fan Andy Godfrey tweeted: "There have been far more awarding players who never even got this??? And ones who won domestic honours!"

While many others celebrated the fact Spurs would have another trophy to put in their cabinet.

Kane does  have many supporters, however, pointing out he has been a dedicated servant to club and country.

A close pal told The Sun: “Harry is overwhelmed and excited about the idea of going to Buckingham Palace.

“Playing for England was one of the proudest moments of his life but to be honoured by the Queen for his achievement will top the lot.

“The last six months have been a complete whirlwind for him, and getting the OBE will put the finishing touch to an incredible year.

“He is a model professional and a role model for youngsters wanting to enter the game.

"He deserves this recognition.”
