Reigns poses with boxer Parker as Jericho provides update on WWE star's leukaemia fight

And the wrestling superstar is doing “pretty good” in his battle against the deadly disease, according to WWE legend and his friend Chris Jericho.

The Big Dog, 33, shocked the world in October when he announced live on Monday Night Raw he was relinquishing the Universal Title after being diagnosed with the illness for a second time.

Reigns, real name Joe Anoa’I, has not appeared on WWE TV since but has made several public appearances.

The four-time champ has attended a football game and posed for a selfie with a copper before being snapped with a fan in the gym while on holiday in Hawaii last week.

Now Reigns has been spending some time with ex-WBO Heavyweight Champion Parker, who tweeted a picture of the duo out in the sun.

New Zealaner Parker wrote: “With the Uso @WWERomanReigns.”

Reigns is currently on vacation with his family, and according to his old WWE colleague Jericho he seems to be doing well on his road to recovery.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Y2J said: “I talk to him quite often – seems to be doing pretty good from what I know.

“I don’t know how much he wants to get out there as far as what he’s doing, but he’s doing his treatment and I think things are doing pretty well.

“And I don’t know much about leukaemia. I don’t know what the endgame is as far as when you’re quote-unquote ‘cured’, when it goes into remission, when you can do physical matches or travel or whatever it is.”

Jericho added that the duo regular text and he believes it is only a matter of time before Reigns in back inside the squared-circle.

Reigns vowed to not let the disease end his career as he made his emotional announcement on Raw.

He said: “The reality is my real name is Joe [Anoa’i] and I'd been living with leukaemia for 11 years… And unfortunately it's back.

“And because the leukaemia is back, I cannot fulfil my role. I can't be that fighting champion and I'm going to have to relinquish the Universal Championship.

“I'm not going to lie, I'll take every prayer you can send my way but I'm not looking for sympathy. I'm not looking for you to feel bad for me because I have faith.

“When I was 22 years old I was diagnosed with this and very quickly I was able to put it in remission. But I'm not going to lie, that was the hardest time of my life.

“I didn't have a job, I didn't have any money, I didn't have a home and I had a baby on the way. And football was done with me.

“But do you know who gave me a chance? The team that gave me a chance was the WWE. After I'm done whooping leukaemia's a** once again, I'm coming back home.

“I want to show my family, my friends, my children and my wife that when life throws a curveball at me, I am the type of man that will stand in that batter’s box, I will crowd the plate, I will choke up and I will swing for the fences every single time!”
