Raheem Sterling to be made honorary Mancunian and inducted into city's Hall of Fame

RAHEEM Sterling is set to become an honorary Mancunian — in recognition of inspiring the dreams of children.
The Manchester City star will be inducted into Manchester’s Hall of Fame later this year.
Jamaica-born Londoner Raheem, 24, scored twice in yesterday’s 6-0 FA Cup final win over Watford and won the Premier League with City last week.
The England ace also scooped the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year award.
A source said: “Raheem has been an inspirational on and off the pitch this season so it’s only right that a city which loves football and diversity as much as Manchester shows its affection for him.
In his role as a sportsman he has the ability to inspire children and be a role model to them. This year he’s grabbed those opportunities with both hands.”
Raheem has also earned many plaudits for his anti-racism work.
In January, Raheem also penned a letter to a young City fan who was racially abused, urging the supporter “stand tall, don’t let them take away your courage”.
And prior to City’s FA Cup semi-final Cup final against Brighton last month, Raheem bought 550 tickets which he donated to his old school Copeland community – now re-named Ark Elvin academy, which is in the shadow of Wembley.
Academy principal Rebecca Curtis said: “To know he still thinks about the community he came from despite how his life has changed is really powerful for us.
"The vast majority of our pupils have never been inside Wembley, let alone seen such a big game with one of our old boys playing.”
Sterling said: “This is a great opportunity to give back to the community that helped me get to where I am.”
