Peter O’Mahony returns to Ireland line up for Wales clash as starting team named for Six Nations tie – The Sun
PETER O'MAHONY will return to the Ireland starting team against Wales this weekend.
The forward was dropped for the game against Scotland but now returns to the fold alongside Robbie Henshaw who takes the place of injured Garry Ringrose.
O'Mahony had to settle for a place on the bench last weekend in Ireland's opening day victory against Scotland as CJ Stander slotted into his normal number six jersey with Caelan Doris making his debut but the debutante has been ruled out of this weekend's game.
Robbie Henshaw is the other change of the day as star centre Garry Ringrose has been ruled out of both the Wales game and the upcoming England game with a finger injury.
STRONG TEAM
Cian Healy, Rob Herring and Tadhg Furlong make up the front row with Iain Henderson and James Ryan make up a formidable second row partnership and the previously mentioned O'Mahony and Stander are joined by Josh Van Der Flier in the back row.
Conor Murray and Johnny Sexton will resume their partnership with the Munster scrum half doing enough to stave off competition from Ulster's John Cooney.
Henshaw will be partnered by Bundee Aki in his return to the starting team while the youthful back three of Andrew Conway, Jacob Stockdale and Jordan Larmour make up the remainder of the starting team.
Ireland will be looking to banish the demons of last year's tournament where they experienced a 25-7 drubbing in Cardiff, resulting in a Grand Slam during Warren Gatland's last home game in charge.
And new boss Andy Farrell will hope his side show the same grit and determination to get over the line.
Ireland did just enough last weekend in the 19-12 win over Scotland.
