Neymar 'tells PSG he wants to renew contract and has even started scouting market for world-class transfers'

NEYMAR has reportedly told Paris Saint-Germain he wants a new contract – and is already helping the French club scout for signings.

Eight straight Ligue 1 wins have Les Parisiens comfortably top of the table although the Brazilian missed Saturday's 3-0 win over Rennes through injury.

Neymar has missed over half of his side's games this year due to a combination of coronavirus, suspension and a recently accrued groin problem.

But he is confident of remaining a focal point of the team and is said to want a new contract.

According to Telefoot, the forward has told sporting director Leonardo that he wants to renew his deal, which expires in 2022.

In addition, Neymar has reportedly started scouting out players from around the world who can strengthen PSG's squad.

The international break is expected to see the club's Qatari investors and board hold a summit to discuss their next steps.

Thomas Tuchel's position as coach is thought to be under minor threat but the German is likely to stay in the job amid PSG's poor start in the Champions League.

And while renewing Neymar's contract is said to be something the club want to do, it is not seen as an urgent priority.

It has previously been reported that the 28-year-old will accept the same £600,000-a-week terms he is currently on.

There were rumours that PSG would lose the world-record signing to Barcelona in the summer of 2019.

Neymar reportedly told the club he wanted to leave although a transfer could not be agreed.

And Barcelona's massive financial crisis means a fresh bid is highly unlikely.

Therefore Kylian Mbappe's contract situation is seen as a more pressing matter.

Real Madrid are thought to be very keen on the striker, whose deal also expires in 2022.

Mbappe has reportedly been offered a deal that would see him earn the same mega pay packet as Neymar, although no agreement has been reached.
