Mic’d up A’s player drops F-bomb in heat of elimination game

Mic’d up during the A’s winner-take-all Game 3 against the White Sox, outfielder Ramon Laureano could be heard dropping an F-bomb on ESPN. It quickly went viral on Twitter, with many different opinions on the matter.

Some felt the in-game interview during an elimination game added to the product. Others thought it was crossing the line and a distraction in such an important game. During the half-inning, Laureano was frequently chasing balls into the gap. On an Eloy Jimenez double, he could be heard saying, “Damn, he can f–king run!”

ESPN said during the telecast players are asked about getting mic’d up and they can refuse the request.

Former player Lou Merloni summed it up best, also mentioning the Dodgers’ Justin Turner having a microphone on him Wednesday night.

“Mic’ing up Laureano in an elimination game was awesome to watch,” the NBC Sports Boston baseball analyst tweeted. “However, if I was still playing I’d be pissed that they are doing it. They did it with Turner last night in LA too. This isn’t Spring Training….but, it was fun. I’m conflicted.”
