Mets place shaky Jeurys Familia on IL with shoulder worries

This may explain Jeurys Familia’s struggles.
The Mets reliever is headed to the injured list after getting an injection in his right shoulder on Wednesday afternoon, The Post’s Greg Joyce reported. Familia underwent an MRI exam on Wednesday and it came back “fairly clean,” manager Mickey Callaway said. It showed a Bennett lesion (bone spur) he has dealt with previously flaring up.
Familia, whom the Mets signed to a three-year, $30 million this offseason, has been a disaster in his return to Queens this season, giving up 10 runs in 14 innings so far.
The worst moment came on Tuesday night when he blew a 3-1 lead against the Reds in the ninth inning.
The Mets called up Ryan O’Rourke. who has a 4.61 ERA at Triple-A Syracuse, to take Familia’s place on the roster.
