Bayern Munich vs Man Utd team news

Thomas Tuchel will not be on the sidelines due to being sent to the stands in Bayern’s final Champions League game of last season.

And Kingsley Coman could be unavailable too after missing Friday’s draw with Bayer Leverkusen with a muscular injury.

Legendary German keeper Manuel Neuer is also out of action after sustaining a leg break last December.

However, the Bayern boss is expecting to welcome new signing Raphael Guerreiro back after a muscular injury, while Harry Kane will most certainly start up top against his former Premier League rivals.

Elsewhere, United fans could finally see summer signing Sofyan Amrabat make his debut but he’ll need to be further assessed alongside Raphael Varane and Mason Mount

However, United have confirmed that Aaron Wan-Bissaka is out for a “few weeks” with a hamstring concern.

Furthermore, Jadon Sancho and Antony are expected to miss out due to off-field issues.

Kane urges Bayern to respect Man Utd

Harry Kane has urged his Bayern Munich team-mates not to underestimate Man Utd when the two sides meet on Wednesday.

The former Tottenham striker told Sports Illustrated: “A difficult game. I know Manchester United are having a difficult moment at the moment, but sometimes teams like that are dangerous because they’re always looking to come back in a big way.

“So we have to be prepared for them and of course we want to get the crowd behind us as early as possible on Wednesday in front of our home crowd and approach the game with a lot of intensity.

“The Champions League is always special and my first game with Bayern Munich will stay with me – so I hope it goes well.”

Should Maguire return to the starting XI?

Man Utd have endured a slow start to the season with just two wins and three defeats from their opening five games.

Harry Maguire is yet to start a game, but should he be re-introduced to the squad amid the club’s poor run of form?

    Here are the stats…

Bayern Munich vs Man Utd ones to watch

All eyes will be on Harry Kane but Prem fans will be well aware of another Bayern star – Leroy Sane.

He has three goals in four games this season and has linked up well with Kane since his arrival.

His pace will be a key threat up against Diogo Dalot, with United’s defence set to face another stern test.

For United to get anything from this match they will need Casemiro to be at his best, particularly if Amrabat is not fit enough to start.

Casemiro has come up with goals in big games on occasion but his shielding of the back four, and preventing the Bayern break, will be vital to picking up a result.

Neville claims United have ‘BUGS’ in dressing room

Gary Neville has claimed Manchester United have “bugs in the dressing room” amid a chaotic start to the season.

He explained: “How popular is Sancho and Maguire in the dressing room? He’s got some bugs in there that we don’t know from the outside, what discomfort and uncertainty is being created on the inside.

“You’ve got a player at the moment who is probably changing in the first-team dressing room but obviously over with the academy. You’ve got Maguire, who has been captain of these players 12 months ago, now almost alienated as third, fourth, fifth centre-half.

“He’s got some situations in there I don’t know the damage that’s having. But in terms of his work on the pitch I don’t think Ten Hag will change.

He added: “What I’m hoping at the moment is it’s just a difficult start to the season and it’s not a repeat of what we’ve seen previously.

“We’ve seen it becoming challenging for Jose Mourinho, for Louis van Gaal, for David Moyes, for obviously Ralf Rangnick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. So I hope it is not the beginning of that.”

United target reveals why he rejected move

Jean-Clair Todibo didn't join the Red Devils this summer over fears he'd make a "mistake".

Todibo, 23, was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford last month.

The Red Devils approached OGC Nice over a potential swoop just before deadline day, but a deal failed to materialise.

And now the defender has opened up about why he decided against joining Erik ten Hag's side.

Todibo told L'Equipe: "My thinking was much more in-depth, thoughtful. I didn't want to make a mistake in my choice. I remained very calm.

"Reflection is much more important than when I started. I'm waiting to be presented with the complete project.

"What is expected of me? Why am I coming? You shouldn't arrive at a club like that. I know what I have at Nice. Why go into the unknown?"

    'They're not very good'

Gary Neville believes Manchester United's poor start to the season is down to a lack of quality in the squad.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: "I was worried at the start of the season. There was this feeling Manchester United had got their business done early in the transfer window and that was good, but I was concerned the players they had brought in wouldn't improve them from last season.

"I never thought for one second they would challenge Manchester City and Arsenal from the players that they brought in. That would have needed a Harry Kane-type signing or Declan Rice, as an example. They didn't have the money to do those types of signings.

"They're not very good at the moment. There's no hysteria. I went to the Brighton game as a fan thinking, 'Could I be surprised?'.

"You're always optimistic. I have never walked over that forecourt at Old Trafford and not been optimistic because that's the job of a football fan going to any ground where you support your team.

"But 72,000 Manchester United fans in that stadium, who are informed and know Brighton and know their current team, I don't think any of them were surprised at what they saw."

    Guardiola 'violates' rivals

Football fans were left in stitches at Pep Guardiola's hilarious reaction to Manchester United being suggested as a potential rival to Manchester City this season.

Ahead of City's opening Champions League game against Red Star Belgrade, Guardiola was discussing the champions' domestic competition this year.

During his press conference, he said: "You know how strong is Arsenal. Yesterday I saw their game at Goodison Park, they are exceptional.

"And Liverpool again and mentalities continue there."

A reporter then suggested Man Utd as another potential rival – a comment that saw Guardiola respond with a wry chuckle.

He then added: "Well they didn't start… I think they expect like Chelsea. But always they are Man Utd. With Chelsea sooner or later they will take the rhythm."

Despite attempting to explain himself, social media exploded in response to Guardiola's instinctive laugh at Man Utd, with one person writing: "That one there was a violation ting I wouldn’t have it."

De Gea lined up for football return

David De Gea is wanted by Real Betis after leaving Manchester United, according to reports.

The goalkeeper has turned down multiple offers since being released at the end of June.

He was linked to big clubs like Bayern Munich and Real Madrid but both moves collapsed.

However De Gea could be set to return to Spain with Betis registering an interest, claim Fichajes.

The report also suggests Valencia were considering an approach for the 32-year-old.

But Betis appear to be the frontrunners after talks with former Manchester City star Claudio Bravo fell through.

United handed boost before Bayern match

Man Utd can thank neighbours City for a surprise boost ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash at Bayern Munich.

Home boss Thomas Tuchel will serve a one-match dugout ban for a red card against Pep Guardiola's men in last year's quarter-finals.

United might need any help they can get against Harry Kane and Co -And that includes the absence of Tuchel's animated antics pitch-side.

The ex-Chelsea chief lost his cool in the second leg against Man City at the Allianz Arena in April.

Tuchel was restrained by a Bayern assistant as he protested over a challenge by Aymeric Laporte on Kingsley Coman in the dying minutes.

But the German continued his complaints and referee Clement Turpin sent him to the stands.

I would have won the Balon D'or if I was called Yorkinho

Dwight Yorke has said he would have won the Balon D'or in 1999 if he was called 'Yorkinho' as part of a tongue in cheek comment to  Genting Casino.

He told the betting company: When I won the Treble in 1999, I scored 29 goals and had 23 assists. I didn’t win the Ballon d’Or that year – Rivaldo did, even though I scored more goals in the Champions League that year.

"I didn’t even win the PFA Player of the Year! Rivaldo only scored three goals in the Champions League in 1999. That goes to show. I scored eight and won the trophy! Would I have won the Ballon d’Or if I was called Yorkinho? Absolutely!"
