Man Utd star Marouane Fellaini target for Monaco boss Thierry Henry as Frenchman continues transfer blitz

The Ligue 1 chief, 41, is hoping to add the Belgian midfield star to his squad on a loan deal with his side struggling in 19th in France's top flight.

Ex-Arsenal star Henry has made contact with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over a move for Fellaini, 31, this month, say French outlet RMC.

Cesc Fabregas recently completed his move to Monaco as Henry raids the Premier League in a desperate bid to escape the relegation zone.

However, should Henry land new No1 target Fellaini, they will likely be without him for the next month.

Yesterday, Solskjaer confirmed the big Belgian was injured, saying: "He'll probably be at least three or four weeks. He's got a calf problem and that's sad."

Based on the United caretaker boss' comments, Fellaini will not come easily – with the Norwegian rating him incredibly highly.

Solskjaer continued: "There's X-factor in different players and we all know Felliani's X-factor.

"Then again he'll be working hard to get back in when all the big games are coming as well."

Fellaini has made 21 appearances for United this season, scoring twice.

However, he has been used more sparingly under Solskjaer than Jose Mourinho – with the caretaker boss placing more impetus on creative, attacking flair.

Fellaini has been at Old Trafford since 2013 after leaving Everton.

Most recently, Monaco slipped to a 1-1 draw against ten-man Nice – managed by Henry's former Gunners team-mate Patrick Vieira.

And Henry will hope Fellaini can bring a spark to the south coast in his first major managerial battle.
