Man Utd player ratings: Maguire and Lindelof stand out as clean sheet earns replay amid clueless attacking display – The Sun

NEITHER Manchester United nor Wolves could muster a breakthrough as the Premier League sides drew 0-0 in the FA Cup.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was left taking the positives of a sturdy defensive showing on Saturday evening after keeping only one clean sheet in nine away days before this stalemate.

But there was little in the way of serious chances created as the youthful frontline failed to make things happen at Molineux.

Marc Mayo provides his individual ratings ahead of the two teams doing it all again at Old Trafford in the third round replay.

SERGIO ROMERO – 7

Made a top save from Matt Doherty in the first-half and a slightly less convincing parry from Pedro Neto after appearing to hurt his hamstring. So a clean sheet well earned.

ASHLEY YOUNG – 6

Carried the ball well and was booked for a classic "smart" foul to prevent Neto starting a counter late on.

VICTOR LINDELOF – 8

Caught rushing out a bit but recovered well, in particular a dash to prevent Benny Ashley-Seal getting a shot off.

HARRY MAGUIRE – 8

The oft-criticised centre-back made a decisive intervention on Adama Traore early on and looked sturdy all evening. Picked up a knock in one challenge that he played through for most of the match.

BRANDON WILLIAMS – 6

Ran forward well and had a reasonable penalty shout dismissed when tumbling under a Leander Dendoncker lunge. Couldn't land a blow on Traore, though.

ANDREAS PEREIRA – 5

With so few options going in attack, this was a night for Pereira to take the bull by the horns and shine – yet he appeared timid and rarely entered the opposition box.

NEMANJA MATIC – 6

An unfussy performance from the Serbian, with most of Wolves' attacks coming down the flanks and bypassing him.

TAHITH CHONG – 5

Some bright running here and there, the winger looked lost when doing anything other than launching into dribbles out wide. Such a run ended his night after an injury picked up from a Max Kilman hack.

JUAN MATA – 6

The Spaniard looked creative but struggled to make an impact in the hustle and bustle of the final third. While he used to manage this, it arguably isn't his fault nowadays with Solskjaer probably better deploying him in a less stringent position than central attacking midfield.

DANIEL JAMES – 5

With no one to play a final ball to, his reasonably decent crosses were wasted. Add onto that some woeful shooting and it became clear the youngster needs an extended break from the starting XI – but who is there to replace him?

MASON GREENWOOD – 5

Looked lively and engaged but not in the serious goalscoring areas. Jumped on the wayward shooting bandwagon with a couple of efforts.
