Man Utd make Erling Haaland and James Maddison No1 January transfer targets as Solskjaer looks to splash cash – The Sun

MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly made Erling Haaland and James Maddison their top transfer targets next month.

The Athletic claims Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ready to splash the cash on the highly-rated duo as he looks to build on successive wins over Spurs and Manchester City.

United’s threadbare squad sits just five points off the top four.

And a few quality signings this winter could be the difference between Champions and Europa League football next season.

It’s reckoned that top of Solskjaer’s wishlist is fellow Norwegian Haaland.

The attacking sensation, 19, has scored an incredible 27 goals in just 19 games this season.

And it’s believed Haaland has a release clause in his RB Salzburg contract allowing him to leave for just £17million.

However, the hotshot teen is a die-hard Leeds United fan.

And the report claims that his agent Mino Raiola would prefer him to join a club with a lower profile than United before making a mega-money move to an elite side in a few more years.

Solskjaer has also earmarked Leicester City ace Maddison as one to buy immediately.

The playmaker has been instrumental to his club’s magnificent season under Brendan Rodgers, with the Foxes second in the table.

And United believe Maddison is the perfect solution to fill their problem No 10 position.

But a move could cost upwards of £100m, as the England international is perfectly happy at the King Power Stadium.

He is also contracted to Leicester until 2023, and Rodgers is ready to hand him another new deal with a massive pay rise.

United are also said to have interest in Spurs midfielder Christian Eriksen.

The Dane is out of contract at the end of the season and will be leaving North London on a free transfer.

However, he is understood to be holding out for a move abroad, with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain both linked.
