Man Utd boss Solskjaer watches PSG suffer shock defeat to Lyon ahead of Champions League clash

The caretaker and assistant Mike Phelan were spotted in the stands after Angel Di Maria scored just seven minutes in.

Lyon, however, exploited an unusually vulnerable PSG defence and drew level thanks to Moussa Dembele before Nabil Fekir added a second after the break.

Thomas Tuchel's defending champions pushed hard for a leveller but met stubborn resistance, with ex-Manchester City man dramatically Jason Denayer clearing off the line.

Solskjaer will be encouraged by what he saw ahead of the home leg on February 12 and his free-flowing tactics could pose similar problems to Lyon's pacey attack.

But PSG remain a huge threat at the other end even without star man Neymar, who will miss the clash with United through injury.

Di Maria swept his side ahead after being teed-up in plenty of space by Julian Draxler.

But Lyon revered well as deservedly drew level as Alphone Areola flapped at a cross and Dembele stole in front of him to head home.

Former Celtic striker Dembele was in the thick of it again soon after the break as he went down under Thiago Silva's challenge.

And Fekir kept his cool to seal victory from the spot as Lyon held on for 41 minutes to secure a famous win.
