Lyon to take legal battle against Ligue 1 cancellation to France’s highest court as owner Aulas fears £800m hit – The Sun

LYON will take their legal battle against the cancellation of Ligue 1 to France's highest court.

The French side's president Jean Michel Aulas fears clubs could face an £800million hit and has called for the reversal of the decision.

French football chiefs axed Ligue 1 and Ligue 2's seasons in April with ten rounds of games remaining as coronavirus swept across Europe.

Paris Saint-Germain were crowned champions on a points-per-game basis while Lyon finsihed seventh when the decision was made which meant they missed out on a Europa League place.

Relegated sides Amiens and Toulouse are also fighting the decision to scrap the campaign.

Aulas has asked French authorities to reconsider as other league across Europe return or prepare to return after their own football blackouts.

Lyon, Amiens and Toulouse all took initial legal action but there case was thrown out last week.
