The club are understood to be eager to recruit a midfielder with skipper Jordan Henderson and Thiago both in their thirties.

Meanwhile Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are both out of contract in 2023, and the latter has been linked with an exit this summer.

But Ramsay's arrival is said to represent Liverpool's final signing ahead of the new season.

French midfielder Aurelian Tchouameni was a target before he joined Real Madrid, while there has been continued interest from Anfield in Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.

Although Reds fans will have to wait until 2023 to welcome any new additions in the middle of the park.
