Leeds CEO ordered pizza for staff left feeling 'pretty s***' after Championship play-off heartbreak

A LEAKED email to Leeds United staff reveals that the CEO attempted to boost morale following their play-off heartbreak by ordering takeaway pizzas.

Marcelo Bielsa's men endured a disastrous second half collapse in their 4-3 aggregate defeat to Derby to succumb themselves to another season in the Championship.

Leeds, who were top of the table at Christmas, were 2-0 ahead on aggregate before shipping in four goals at Elland Road.

They looked like heavy favourites for promotion for much of the campaign and many of the players left the field in tears following their defeat.

But CEO Angus Kinnear attempted to raise spirits with an email sent to staff the day after their loss.

Revealed by Iain Williamson on Twitter, he said: "I am sure like me that you feel pretty s*** this morning and it is natural to be down today,

"However, this no time for self pity. We should all reflect on the great season we have had both on and off the pitch.

"Whilst we have not realised our dream this year we have created the foundations which mean we will ultimately achieve it.

"Leeds United will never do things the easy way and we all know that we will have to achieve our goal with the world against us.

"This will make our success all the sweeter.

"We will be ordering pizza for lunch at Elland Road in what I accept will be a futile attempt to improve morale."

Leeds will offer manager Bielsa a new deal in a bid to convince him to stay at the club.

Club chief Andrea Radrizzani is prepared to offer Bielsa further investments if he commits his future to them.
