Kyler Murray becomes first man to be selected in opening round of both NFL and MLB drafts as he joins Arizona Cardinals

OKLAHOMA quarterback Kyler Murray has become the first man to be selected in the opening round of both NFL and MLB drafts.
The two-sport star was picked first by the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday night.

Murray, 21, was selected by the baseball side Oakland Athletics as the ninth overall pick last year.
The youngster signed a £3.6m contract with the A's and promised to report on spring training this year.
However, he excelled in the 2018 college football season – scooping the Heisman Trophy awarded to the best player every year – and announced in January he would enter the 2019 NFL draft.
Many American football aficionados tipped the Oklahoma star to be picked first despite his limited stature.
Among them was former Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury, 39, who called the quarterback "a freak" in October and hinted he would drafted him with the first pick if he could.
Fast forward six months and the now-Arizona boss, appointed in January, is set to build his team around the talented youngster in his first NFL gig in Phoenix.
And Murray, who impressed American football franchises with his speed and arm strength, claims he is ready for the challenge.
He told NFL Network: "I’m blessed to be here, I can’t even put it into words – it’s a dream come true.
"As a kid growing up, you always dream of being the number one pick in the draft.
"I’m ready to go. I’m a winner, I love the game."
Murray then celebrated when EA Sports officially welcomed him to the newest release of sports video game Madden – an American football equivalent of Fifa
He tweeted: "You know it’s official once you hit #Madden20! I can’t wait to get on the sticks."
