Jets report card: It is appalling

Grading the Jets after their 30-10 loss to the Cardinals on Thursday.

Offense

It was another no-show by Adam Gase’s offense. The group averaged just 4.5 yards per play and failed to convert three times on third-and-1. QB Joe Flacco (18 of 33, 195 yards, 1 TD, 82.3 rating) made a few nice plays but overall could not do enough to carry the team. WR Jamison Crowder (8 catches, 116 yards, 1 TD) played well, but no one else did. RB Le’Veon Bell (13 rushes, 60 yards) was a nonfactor in his return.

Grade: F

Defense

The Cardinals had 500 yards before they started kneeling on the ball at the end of the game. They finished with 496. QB Kyler Murray (27 of 37, 380 passing yards, 1 passing TD, 1 INT, 9 rushes, 31 yards, 1 rushing TD) had all the time in the world to throw the ball and picked the Jets apart. The Cardinals got yards on the ground when they needed to and toyed with the Jets defense.

Grade: F

Special Teams

Sam Ficken remains the only player the Jets can count on. He made his only field-goal attempt and is now 9-for-9 this season. Punter Braden Mann hit a 59-yard punt and was solid. Matthias Farley did a good job in coverage. The Jets had no return game. La’Mical Perine bobbled one kickoff return and ended up giving the Jets the ball at the 12.

Grade: C

Coaching

What can you say at this point? The Jets are terrible in every aspect. The players stink, but Gase ultimately has to answer for this mess. The fullback dive on third-and-1 was terrible. The team looks like it has no life. Gregg Williams had a better game than last week but he did not get to Murray at all.

Grade: F
