Harry Redknapp slams 's**t' footballers earning £4m-a-year in I'm A Celebrity blast

Redknapp cut loose on the standard of players earning as much as £4million-a-year who he says are not good enough to play the game.

The former Tottenham manager made his frank admission during a conversation on hit TV show I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.

Redknapp, 71, let slip his true feelings about the huge figures some Premier League stars earn during an open chat with pop star James McVey while in the jungle.

McVey became a big name in the group The Vamps, which has a string of hit records and sell-out tours to their name.

But Redknapp was stunned to discover how little his camp mate earns despite being at the peak of his career.

McVey said: “People don’t realise the money associated, so for example our best year was when I was 19 the band made four million.

"Now there’s four of us in the band and I pay 45% tax, 20% to our management and our record label takes 10% so in my best year ever I earned 250k and that’s the most I’ve ever earned in a year.

"Now I’m on 150k a year and so I can’t afford to get a really lovely car, I’ve got a second hand car that was like 30 grand and I traded my old one in for it.

"I’m very happy but ten years ago there was a lot more money in the music industry.

"Now it’s difficult and unless you are one of the biggest people in the world, there’s not millions and millions.”

Redknapp responded: “You are great at what you do, very different to what I thought, very different to football.

"There are s**t footballers getting 80 grand a week. Half of them can’t play, it’s scary.”
