Daniele De Rossi ‘retires’ aged 36 as he leaves Boca Juniors just six months after joining from Roma – The Sun

DANIELE DE ROSSI is on the verge of retirement as he gets set to leave Boca Juniors.

The 2006 World Cup winner and Roma midfield legend, 36, made the switch to the Bombonera after the end of last season.

But his time at Boca appears to be over after falling out of favour under new boss Miguel Angel Russo.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, he will retire from football in a matter of hours, after leaving Boca.

De Rossi got injured during their Super League stalemate with fierce rivals River Plate in September and was crocked for their two-legged Copa Libertadores semi-final against the same side.

He starred for Roma for 15 years, playing over 600 games for the Giallorossi — most of them alongside Francesco Totti.

It made his contract snub last season so tough to take for Roma fans, as he turned his back on them to play in Argentina.

He was also a key part of Marcelo Lippi's squad as they won the 2006 World Cup, where Italy beat France in the final on penalties, after he came off the bench.
