Conor McGregor post-victory interview interrupted by Donald Cerrone’s grandma before she enjoys big hug with Notorious – The Sun

CONOR McGREGOR was hugged by Donald Cerrone's grandmother just minutes after he brutally KO'd her grandson.

The Notorious made a stunning return to UFC with a 40-second demolition job on the man nicknamed the Cowboy.

But McGregor switched from brutal to loving when Cerrone's grandma entered the octagon.

The two took part in a heartwarming embrace, with the elderly woman draping her hands around the Irishman's neck.

And McGregor seemed happy to take in the love despite just minutes earlier crushing her family member.

There was also someone else paying tribute to McGregor – the man he had just defeated by stoppage.

McGregor did serious damage with a number of shoulder shots to the face before dropping Cerrone with a devastating head kick that would set him on his way to an early victory.

Cerrone was sent reeling backwards and The Notorious sensed his opening to close the show.

After sinking in a signature left hand Cowboy was dropped and McGregor hammered away with heavy strikes to his downed opponent.

But it was during his post-fight interview that his oppoent's biggest fan made her appearance.

McGregor said: “Cerrone's nan is a phenemonal woman, she is at every fight and is there from the start to the finish.

“What a man she has raised. I like Donald, I have a lot of respect for him and it was an honour to share the ring for him.”

And the American afterwards showed his admiration for the performance McGregor put in against him.

He said in the Octagon: "He got me with an elbow straight away and then he headkicked me.

"I have never seen anything like the shoulder shot he hit me with. I was disorientated. Then he stepped back, I was bleeding and he headkicked me.

"But I love this sport and I am not stopping yet."

McGregor was delighted with his performance in the win and hailed his history making achievement of winning fights by knockout at three different weight divisions.

He said: "The shoulder shot was a good shot. It feels very good, I made history tonight, I set another record.

"The first man to ever score knockouts in three weight divisions.

"I am very happy and very proud. Thank you all for your support."
