Conor McGregor hints at Mayweather rematch and vows to learn from mistakes of first £400m fight

In August last year Mayweather fought what he insisted was his last ever bout when he stopped McGregor in the tenth round.

It was was McGregor's first ever professional boxing fight, and although he was comfortably outclassed, many were surprised he managed to take it into the Championship rounds.

Now McGregor, who is also set to make his UFC return this year, has talked up the prospect of going to-to-toe for Part II against the boxing legend.

Analysing some of the action from their first fight, which generated over £400million in revenue, The Notorious posted on Twitter: "I spoiled it with the rush right hook here. The angle was made. He was in the dirt.

"I just had to set correctly into my feet and fire. Rushing the right hook I lost balance on my back hand.

"Great boxing fight! A rematch will be interesting no doubt."

UFC return

While bagging the Mayweather rematch may seem like a long shot, a potential rematch against either Nate Diaz or Khabib Nurmagomedov in UFC appears more realistic.

McGregor has suffered only two losses in the UFC – once to Diaz on March 5, 2016 via a rear naked choke and then last year on October 6 to Khabib with a neck crank.

McGregor said that the real test is if someone can do it twice explaining that any fool can have won once but the real test is if you can do it a second time.

Speaking of his first fight against Diaz, the 30-year-old Dublin fighter posted: “One of the craziest fights ever. The rematch was voted the greatest fight in UFC history."

McGregor was able to comeback just six months later and defeat Diaz in the rematch, dropping the Stockton, California native three times before winning the fight via a majority points decision.

“It’s fascinating to me watching that loss back. Then watching the come back,” McGregor said of his first loss to Diaz. “We can always come back!

“Anyone can do something once. It’s Can you do it twice is the question. That’s why I doubled up on the belts every time. Any fool can do it once.”

Then on his last outing, a crushing KO lost to Khabib, he added: “My last one was a small bit wild also haha.

"I love this game. This is my 3rd level of income at this point, I just do it because I love it."
