Connor Jennings scores last-gasp winner in extra time to secure promotion to League One for Tranmere as Mike Dean goes wild

TRANMERE ROVERS secured promotion to League One after Connor Jennings scored a last-gasp winner in the 119th minute.

Premier League referee Mike Dean was in attendance to watch Micky Mellon's men take on Newport County.

Neither side were able to break the deadlock after 90 minutes of end-to-end football at Wembley.

Newport were denied a huge penalty shout just minutes before the final whistle after Emmanuel Monthe challenged Jamille Matt.

And Michael Flynn's side entered extra time with just ten men after Mark O'Brien received his second yellow card.

The match looked set for penalties until Jake Caprice delivered a tantalising ball into the box.

Jennings leaped above the crowd and headed the ball past Joe Day.

Over 25,000 fans were at Wembley to watch the League Two play-off final, but veteran referee Dean stood out from the crowd.

The 50-year-old jumped out of his seat to celebrate after he watched the moment of magic from Jennings.

He was spotted jumping on rails and going wild after he watched his beloved team beat Forest Green Rovers on aggregate.

After his incredible performance in the stands, fans decided to go the extra mile to honour the referee at Wembley.

Tranmere supporters rocked up to the ground wearing hilarious masks of his face.
