Chelsea player ratings: Lewis Hall is star man on stunning debut but Lukaku and Werner wasteful against Chesterfield

LEWIS HALL starred in Chelsea's 5-1 win over non-league side Chesterfield in the FA Cup.

The European champions found themselves 4-0 up before half-time thanks to goals by Timo Werner, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Romelu Lukaku and Andreas Christensen.

Hakim Ziyech added a fifth, securing Chelsea's place in the Fourth Round of the cup.

The travelling Chesterfield fans had their moment though in the 80th minute.

Akwasi Asante pulled one back sending their fans wild.

But how does Simon Phillips rate the Blues' performance?

Marcus Bettinelli – 7

He had VERY little to do but what he did have to do he did well and did his job on his Chelsea debut. Looked very assured, comfortable, and influential for Chelsea.

Callum Hudson-Odoi – 8

Scored a great goal for Chelsea and was really thriving against weaker opposition. Really positive stuff from him as he looked to go forward at every chance from the unfamiliar left wing back position.

Andreas Christensen – 7

Did well to follow up and get his headed goal for Chelsea, but obviously he had very little to do at the back but did whatever he needed to do well.

Malang Sarr – 8

He was thriving in the central defensive position and really taking his role seriously, looking to drive forward and actually being very calm when on the ball making things happen for Chelsea from deep.

Lewis Hall – 9

What a debut for this lad. 17-years old and Chelsea's best player. He was quick, energetic, up and down, great on the ball, and was heavily involved in three Chelsea goals in attack.

Hakim Ziyech – 6

He was probably one of the more quieter players for Chelsea in the first half and couldn't quite find his way in the game.

He had some good contributions at times but wasn't as lively as we expected. Took a decent penalty in the second half.

Mateo Kovacic – 8

Only played 45 minutes but he was superb for Chelsea once again, controlling everything they did well and being the creative spark in midfield.

Saul Niguez – 7

Had a silly booking early on and was a littl quieter than most in the first half at least, but he did his job very well, tackled well, and was comfortable and safe on the ball.

Christian Pulisic – 6

A lot like Ziyech, he was very quiet for Chelsea in the first half and failed to really take advantage of the lower opposition.

He did some good things and looked a threat, but by far Chelsea's best player.

Romelu Lukaku – 6

Took his goal very well but he should have scored more to be honest with some great chances that he should have buried.

He did OK largely but certainly wasn't the top firing Lukaku that we have seen so often.

Timo Werner – 6

Again, was in the right place at the right time for his goal in the first half and worked very hard, but he wasn't the best performer in the first 45 against weak opposition when you'd think he'd be thriving.

SUBS

Ruben Loftus-Cheek for Kovacic (HT) – 8

Came on and made things happen driving from midfield for Chelsea, was even given the captains armband for the first time in his senior career.

Kai Havertz for Lukaku (HT) – 7

Lively and was on the ball a lot, tried to make a difference in attack.

Lewis Baker for Christensen (58 mins) – 7

Such a naturally comfortable player that he slotted in and looked far from out of place, great cameo for Baker.

Harvey Vale for Pulisic (58 mins) – 7

Very talented player who looked like a threat every time he got on the ball.

Ross Barkley for Hudson-Odoi (65 mins) – 6

Came on and almost scored right away with a decent long range effort. Looked lively.
