Chelsea outcast Danny Drinkwater to be hauled in for talks with Burnley boss Sean Dyche after being battered by thugs on boozy night out – The Sun

BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche will reportedly meet with Danny Drinkwater on Monday morning to discuss his future at Turf Moor.

The Sun on Sunday exclusively revealed that the midfielder was attacked by six men outside of a Manchester nightclub after trying to sleep with another footballer's partner.

Drinkwater, 29, was thrown out of the Chinawhite club last weekend after a boozy night out, before a gang of thugs jumped on the England international.

A source said: "At one point he was curled up in a ball on the ground, as they repeatedly jumped up and down on his ankle and shouting, ‘Break his legs’.”

“They knew he was a Premier League star and it was his livelihood. There was blood everywhere, and it was all incredibly nasty.”

The former Leicester star has been left with cuts and bruises on his face, and will face a spell on the sidelines after suffering ankle ligament damage.

SunSport previously reported that Drinkwater – on loan from Chelsea – faces six weeks out after suffering a freak injury.

Drinkwater has made no formal complaint to the police at this stage.

Parent club Chelsea are aware of the incident, but are leaving Burnley to deal with it.

According to Sky Sports, Dyche will haul Drinkwater in for a meeting tomorrow morning with the Clarets manager concerned by his actions.

However at this stage, he is not planning on cancelling his loan.

The player is yet to feature in the Premier League this season, with his only appearance coming in the Carabao Cup defeat against Middlesbrough.
