Chelsea flop Morata celebrates Atletico transfer by buying flowers after flying over with wife and kids
The 26-year-old was pictured in the Spanish capital buying flowers, as he travelled over to Madrid with his wife and young twins to complete his move to Atletico.
Morata has joined Atletico on an 18-month loan deal after the Blues secured the signing of Gonzalo Higuain, who will be loaned to Stamford Bridge from Juventus.
The former Juventus striker, who was signed by Chelsea from Real Madrid in 2017 for £57million, was presented in front of Spanish media yesterday as he revealed his new No22 jersey.
Morata had a torrid spell at Chelsea, netting just 24 times in 72 games while surrendering his place in the side to Olivier Giroud at the end of his first season.
The striker managed nine goals in 24 appearances this season as manager Maurizio Sarri revealed Morata decided he wanted to leave Chelsea in December.
Morata was linked with Barcelona and Seville, though both could not meet Chelsea’s financial demands.
Atletico swooped in with a £9m fee for the loan which sees their former academy member join the Wanda Metropolitano till the end of next seasom.
The on-loan Chelsea flop spent fours seasons at Atletico's youth academy before later going on to represent local rivals Real Madrid in the first team.
Upon his move to Atletico, Diego Simeone’s new man revealed it was his ‘destiny’ to arrive at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Morata said: “My life has taken many detours, but it was destiny that I would arrive here.
"I'm really proud to be back at this club, it's my childhood team, I have so many happy memories, it means a lot to be here.
"Everything else stopped when Atleti appeared. Everything that has happened before is history, I'm here now and everything appears very beautiful."
