Canadiens-Golden Knights odds: Vegas set to trample Montreal

The Montreal Canadiens (6-4-1-1) hook up with the Vegas Golden Knights (8-5-0-0) at T-Mobile Arena Thursday at 10:00 p.m. ET. We analyze the Canadiens-Golden Knights odds and lines, while providing NHL betting tips around this matchup.

Canadiens at Golden Knights: Projected starting goalies

Keith Kinkaid vs. Marc-Andre Fleury

Kinkaid is expected to start the second end of a back-to-back after Carey Price and the Habs won 4-1 in Arizona Wednesday. The backup is 0-1-1 with a 4.53 goals against average and .875 save percentage, which is great news for Vegas.

Fleury streaks in with an 8-3-0 record, 2.30 GAA and .928 save percentage with one shutout. The arrow is clearly pointed in the direction of Vegas, even if Price were in the crease. Fleury is money at home, and he’ll prove it once again Thursday.

Prediction

Golden Knights 5, Canadiens 2

Moneyline (ML)

The Golden Knights (-222) are too expensive on the moneyline, and the Canadiens (+180) are just too risky with Kinkaid in the crease. They looked good in Arizona, but they’ll crumble on the second end of the back-to-back.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Golden Knights (-1.5, +125) are a much better value laying the goal and a half. Many bettors might be surprised to hear the Canadiens (+1.5, -149) are 3-1 all-time against the Knights, but there isn’t much to glean from that since Price was between the pipes for those outings. Kinkaid has been a disaster, and it’s unlikely he’ll slow down a Vegas team which has three quality scoring lines, and a fourth that can come through occasionally, too.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Knights have been so-so offensively, but they’re underachieving. They roll three quality lines. The power play for Vegas ranks ninth in the NHL, hitting at a 25.0% clip. While Vegas is No. 2 in the league on the penalty kill, that’s actually good news for the puck line.

The OVER 5.5 (-149) is 5-1 in six road games for the Canadiens so far this season, which is the exact record for the Golden Knights in six games at home. Vegas will do their part to keep both streaks intact.
