Brooks Koepka looks to win Masters after surgery on dislocated knee and ligament damage just three weeks ago

BROOKS Koepka insists he can win the Masters, despite undergoing knee surgery just three weeks ago.

The four-time Major champion was expected to miss Augusta, with some reports suggesting he could be out of action for at least six weeks.

He shocked everyone by turning up and playing four holes on Sunday, and there have been no signs of any discomfort as he played nine holes on each of the last two days.

Kopeka, 30, had an operation to repair on a dislocated kneecap and ligament damage on March 16.

He also needed treatment for a shoulder problem that hampered him during his last start, when he finished second at the WGC Workday Championship at the end of February.

But the 2019 Masters runner-up said he would not have bothered to turn up if he did not expect to go one better this time.

He said: “If I thought I was going to finish second again, I wouldn’t have shown up. It hasn’t been easy, but I’m here, and I’m ready to play.

“The knee problem happened when I was out with the family.

"I slipped and fell over and dislocated the kneecap. Putting it back into place really hurt.

“After I went down I saw it was out of place so I just straightened it, and popped it back in.

"Seven days out of surgery, I was hitting balls. I don't think anybody expected this, me being at the Masters.

"But that was always the goal, although I was told a couple of bad days or anything like that it could set you back quite a while."

Koepka recently got engaged to his long-term girlfriend Jena Sims.

Sims, 32, shared a number of images, including a snap of Koepka down on one knee.

Jena also posted another of the happy couple kissing at their engagement party.

She captioned the post: "Forever is no joke."

The announcement followed a romantic holiday in Mexico at the end of last year.

The loved-up pair enjoyed a holiday in Tulum after the delayed Masters in November.

Actress Sims, 31, kept her 213k Instagram followers up to date with her trip with a series of posts and videos on her Stories.

In one post, Sims shakes her bum in a barely-there black bikini as Brooks joins in on the action while surrounded by food and drink.

Sims also recreated a Roman scene, feeding Koepka a bunch of grapes as he lay down in a loud, matching gold, red and blue outfit.

However the golfer was soon back at work, recovering from the extensive surgery earlier this year.

He said: "It's been seven-plus hours every day in rehab.

"Between getting my neck straightened out and the knee, I feel like I’ve been living on the treatment table, making sure I can get comfortable. And it all feels good now.

“Before I started playing again I walked the back nine at my local club a few times to see how it held up.

"I’ve walked enough, miles and miles. It’s time to step up a few gears.”
