Aubameyang is finally named in squad… as Chelsea star assists and pulls strings from midfield in family kickabout | The Sun

CHELSEA outcast Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang finally enjoyed some time on the pitch… after he took part in a kickabout with his family.

The Gabon striker played in a deeper role than normal, pulling the strings from midfield.

In a video uploaded to Instagram by Agatino lazzaro, Aubameyang is all over the pitch dictating the play for his team.

At one point, he plays a brilliant long ball which is volleyed home by his team-mate.

He also gets in on the act as he hammered a first-time effort in off the post.

The 33-year-old is also wearing his Chelsea shirt and socks in the clip.

However it is the most time he has seen on the pitch as he has been left out of the club's squads in recent weeks – last playing in the goalless draw with Liverpool last month.

Aubameyang was cut from Graham Potter's Champions League squad as he preferred attackers Raheem Sterling, Kai Havertz, Joao Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk to the Gabon star.

Although they have not been firing in the goals either this season, as Potter's side has slumped to 10th in the Premier League table.

The last result was a terrible 1-0 loss to bottom-of-the-table Southampton at Stamford Bridge.

Potter was asked about Aubameyang's absence from the squad for a third consecutive league match after the game.

He said: “I would say keep doing what he’s doing.

“We had Kai (Havertz) and Raheem (Sterling) coming on but when you don’t score – when you’re creating chances – I understand the question.”

The English manager has left the door open to the former Arsenal star, and he could consider recalling him for their next Premier League match – the London derby against Tottenham on Sunday.
