Arsenal transfer news: Gunners forced to turn to Yannick Carrasco with Belgian keen to leave Chinese side Dalian Yifang

The Gunners boss has made no secret of his desire to bring in new recruits this month, and could look to the ex-Atletico Madrid forward to add pace and width to his squad.

Carrasco swapped Spain for China last February, but could be heading back to Europe after less than a year in the Far East.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the North Londoners are in pole position to land him having made initial contact, but face stern competition from AC Milan.

But they claim that the Italians can't afford his £170,000-a-week contract, while the player himself has 'given his approval' to a move to the Emirates.

Manchester United are another club that have been linked with the Belgian international, but it is Arsenal that are winning the race to secure his services, having failed to lure Roma ace Cengiz Under.

While Sky Sports news reporter Dharmesh Sheth also spoke of Arsenal's interest in the 25-year-old.

He said: "Belgium winger Yannick Carrasco could be a fit for Emery.

“Sky in Italy are reporting Arsenal are interested.

“Carrasco is currently at Chinese club Dalian Yifang having played for Monaco and Atletico Madrid.”

Carrasco has chipped in with seven goals and nine assists in 26 games since joining Dalian Yifang, while he netted 23 times in 123 matches for Atletico between 2015-2018.

Arsenal are also understood to be close to completing a deal for Barcelona's versatile star Denis Suarez, with the Spanish international poised to link up with Emery once again.
