Arsenal tracking Callum Hudson-Odoi over shock transfer with Chelsea winger on loan at Bayer Leverkusen | The Sun

CALLUM HUDSON-ODOI has emerged as a shock transfer target for Arsenal, reports suggest.

Chelsea academy product Hudson-Odoi is currently out on loan at German side Bayer Leverkusen.

However, he is yet to net a league goal for the German side, creating values of just 0.1 Expected Goals and 0.8 Expected Assists.

Instead, he has netted just once in the Champions League.

Following Chelsea's massive spending spree, including massive investment on wingers, the 22-year-old's place at Stamford Bridge is under threat.

The Guardian report that Hudson-Odoi is unlikely to remain at Chelsea once he returns from his loan.

And they add that Arsenal are now "tracking" Hudson-Odoi over a potential transfer.

Wingers are a position of strength for Arsenal at the moment, but they could happily add a new addition to their squad for next season.

After recruiting Leandro Trossard from Brighton in January, Arsenal then allowed Brazilian youngster Marquinhos to go on loan to Championship side Norwich.

Emile Smith Rowe is slowly returning to fitness, but his persistent injury record make his squad utility unreliable, limiting Mikel Arteta's options.

As well as Trossard, the Janaury window saw the Gunners add Jakub Kiwior and Chelsea's Jorginho to the squad.

Jorginho completed his switch from West to North London on deadline day in a savvy £12million deal.

The Italian signed a contract that runs until summer 2024 with an option to extend for a further year.

And with Thomas Partey going off injured in Arsenal's FA Cup clash against Man City, Jorginho's debut may come against Everton this weekend.

Meanwhile, as Hudson-Odoi struggles on the continent, Arsenal loanee Folarin Balogun has more than found his feet at Reims under Football Manager guru Will Still.

Balogun's latest hat-trick following his last-gasp equaliser against PSG saw him increase his Ligue 1 goal tally to 14 for the season with only Harry Kane and Erling Haaland scoring more in Europe's top five leagues.

But he has a long way to go to catch new record holder Lionel Messi.
