Arsenal star Mesut Ozil posts cryptic broken heart and crying emojis tweet as Gunners slump to another loss at Everton

MESUT OZIL appeared to be heartbroken in the aftermath of another defeat for Arsenal, this time at Everton.

An own-goal from Rob Holding and Yery Mina's header consigned the Gunners to their eighth Premier League defeat of the season.

Niciolas Pepe had levelled things up at 1-1, but that proved in vain as Arsenal slipped to 16th in the table after a 2-1 reversal.

Just hours after the game Ozil, currently ostrasised from the first-team squad, posted a broken heart and crying face emojis on Twitter.

The defeat leaves boss Mikel Arteta under intense pressure to turn things around with high-flying Chelsea next up in the Premier League at the weekend.

Before that the North Londers face Manchester City in the CarabaoCup quarter-finals tonight.

German playmaker Ozil has played no part in Arsenal's freefall after he was axed from both 25-man squads for the top flight and Europa League.

But he has regularly posted cryptic tweets throughout the season.

Ozil, the club’s highest-earner on £350,000-a-week, has publicly stated he will not be forced out of The Emirates.

And he insists he will stay for the remainder of his contract as he vowed to fight and try to regain his first-team place.

Arteta has opened the door to that possibility as he has the option to re-register the 32-year-old in January.

The Gunners boss said before the home defeat to Burnley: “He's not in the squad right now.

“I'm focusing just on the players we have here.

“But, whatever happens in January, we have some time to decide.”

Ozil has not kicked a ball for Arsenal since last season was suspended in March amid the coronavirus pandemic outbreak.
