Arsenal fans fume as Harry Kane is offside before ref hands Spurs contentious penalty to equalise derby

The Tottenham talisman, 25, equalised from the spot after he was bundled to the ground by Shkodran Mustafi.

Replays revealed that Kane was standing in an offside position when Christian Eriksen delivered a deep free kick into the box.

But the linesman did not notice and play was allowed to continue before Kane crashed to the ground.

The referee pointed the spot and the England skipper tucked it past Leno to level the scoring at Wembley.

Arsenal fans on Twitter could not believe their eyes and claimed they had been "robbed" of of the win.

One said: "He's even got the 18 yard box as a line to see that Kane is offside. Blind linesman and Arsenal are robbed. Typical."

Another added: "Kane is offside and wins a penalty. Please can we have VAR."

And one furious Twitter user said: "Of course Spurs were going to get a penalty when Kane was offside. Could have put your house on it."

The explosive North London derby finished 1-1 after Kane's strike cancelled out Aaron Ramsey's early opener.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had the chance to win it for Arsenal, but he missed a late penalty after he came on from the bench.

Kane's equaliser has made him the leading goalscorer in Premier League North London derbies as he surpassed Emmanuel Adebayor's record of eight.
