Andy Ruiz Jr tells Dillian Whyte to 'stop playing the victim card' and slams rival after devastating Povetkin KO

ANDY RUIZ JR has told Dillian Whyte to "stop playing the victim card" following the Brit's devastatingKO defeat against Alexander Povetkin.

With a WBC world shot at the winner of Tyson Fury versus Deontay Wilder on the line, Whyte was sent to sleep in the fifth round with an uppercut by the veteran Russian.

It was a stunning upset on the final show of Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Fight Camp in his back garden.

Whyte immediately requested a rematch, which is likely to happen in November or December.

The 32-year-old also hit out at criticism he received from boxers, boxing experts and Twitter trolls after the shock loss.

One name he dropped was former heavyweight world champ Ruiz Jr.

And his newly-acquired trainer Dave Coldwell launched an impassioned defence of the Brixton brawler, saying he has "bigger b***s" than the trolls.

But Ruiz Jr, who stunned Anthony Joshua to win the WBO, WBA and IBF heavyweight belts back in June 2019 before losing the rematch six months later, has slammed Whyte's reaction.

The two have prevous beef, with Whyte scoffing at Ruiz Jr's boxing skills and battle with his weight.

Posting on Twitter, Ruiz wrote: "Stop playing the “victim” card bro."

He then followed that by posting: "You talk all this s**t, disrespect your opponents at weigh-ins, post stupid memes and now we gotta feel sorry for you cause you got KO’d??"

And Ruiz Jr isn't the only one who thinks Whyte should suck it up and concentrate on the rematch.

Promoter Frank Warren has moved to remind Coldwell and Whyte of his previous.

Tyson Fury’s matchmaker told SunSport: “I saw Dave Coldwell’s little speech and it made me chuckle because Dillian has enjoyed having a go at everyone else.

“He’s always calling Tyson Fury – who went to Wladimir Klitschko and Deontay Wilder’s backyards as a huge underdog – a coward.

“He has made some serious slanderous accusations about Anthony Joshua being a drug cheat, including posting a video of the Verve song ‘The Drugs Don’t Work’ after his loss to Andy Ruiz Jr.

“He’s talked about Ruiz Jr having his hardest fight against diabetes, when his hardest fight was at short notice against AJ because Dillian didn’t have the bottle to take it himself.

“And he has constantly called Derek Chisora a donkey despite him not kicking off a fuss when he was robbed in their first fight.

“If these fighters and fans have enjoyed Dillian’s defeat then it is only because he has made a career out of slagging others off.

"To put it very simply, what goes around, comes around.”
