Ancelotti fits the bill at Everton and can attract premium stars to match club’s lofty ambition – The Sun

I DON’T agree with the suggestion that Carlo Ancelotti is the wrong fit for Everton.

While he may be used to coming into clubs at the right end of the table, he could be just the man to deliver on the club’s massive ambition.

There is a strong argument previous bosses, such as Ronald Koeman and Marco Silva, were the wrong men to spend Farhad Moshiri’s vast sums.

But now there is an equally strong argument they finally have the right man at the helm to deliver.

Everton are undoubtedly a huge club who are used to signing high-quality players over the years.

With Ancelotti in charge — as well as their deep pockets — they are only going to attract a higher calibre of footballer.

In terms of league targets, Everton have to remember where they are.

Ancelotti has himself spoken of aiming for Champions League qualification.

In a very congested league, the absolute best they can hope for this season is to finish seventh or eighth.

But next season the aim has to be to challenge for the top six — because of the money they have spent, if nothing else.

It will obviously be a massive challenge, with the Toffees not having finished in the top six for the past five full seasons.

But if there’s one man who can fulfil those ambitions, it is their new manager.

And what will already have given him and everyone around the club confidence is the reaction of the team under Duncan Ferguson.

Whereas Silva failed to get the best out of his players, Ferguson succeeded instantly.

I’d be much more concerned if there was no reaction at all — like under Freddie Ljungberg at Arsenal.

So under the Italian, who is known as a very chilled individual and great man-manager, the Toffees have a real chance to progress.

And to keep up the momentum, the club and Ancelotti need to make sure they find an important role for Big Dunc.

The Scot is all emotion, wearing his heart on his sleeve.

Ancelotti is going to need help from someone who knows the players and the club inside out.

The two could end up a great match — as could the Italian and the Merseyside club.
