8.30am Tottenham transfer news LIVE: Kane injury LATEST, Mourinho says Ndombele ‘always injured’, Pereira £30m interest – The Sun

JOSE MOURINHO's 2020 got off to a poor start as Spurs were beaten 1-0 at Southampton.

A first-half strike from Danny Ings was enough to give the Saints all three points, whilst Harry Kane was also forced off moments after having a goal chalked by VAR.

And it's also a crucial time off the pitch, with the January transfer window getting underway and Tottenham looking to sign Leicester's Ricardo Pereira.

  • MANCHESTER UNITED’S hopes of signing Christian Eriksen have suffered a blow after Inter Milan opened talks with the Tottenham star.

The Danish international is out of contract in June with the North London club and is now free to discuss terms with teams overseas.

And Italian football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims Inter’s ‘directors have begun contacts with the agents’ of the attacker.

His report says the Nerazzurri originally planned to bring Eriksen to Serie A in the summer.

Now they have been holding talks in London over a potential transfer this month.

Spurs would rather offload the 27-year-old, who handed in a transfer request last summer, now rather than risk losing him for nothing.

And today’s report states they would be willing to do business with Inter for around £17m.

The San Siro outfit are extremely keen on the ex-Ajax playmaker, however it is believed they are firstly attempting to sign Arturo Vidal from Barcelona before the winter window closes.

  • JOSE MOURINHO has been left less than impressed with Tanguy Ndombele's injury record.

After an impressive performance at Norwich, the £55m former Lyon man limped off against Southampton.

And Mourinho said: “He is always injured.

“He’s injured, he’s not injured, he plays one match, next week he’s injured again, he then plays another match.

“We are full of hope but this has been since the beginning of the season.

“You think you have a player and he is in the evolution process.

£He plays very well at Norwich and we were full of hope that he would be ready for this. And he wasn’t.

“I cannot say much more than that because it is a situation that comes from the beginning of the season.”

  • NAPOLI and Ajax are said to be interested in tempting Jan Vertonghen away from Tottenham.

The two clubs are looking at the Belgium centre back, whose deal at Spurs expires in the summer.

Vertonghen, 32, can now talk to other clubs, and it's Gennaro Gattuso at Napoli who is desperate to bring in a top quality defender, with the Telegraph suggesting they might offer Spurs cash to part with him in January.

Ajax are also said to interested in bringing Vertonghen back to the club, after selling him to Spurs seven years ago for £12m.

Vertonghen is very much part of Mourinho's plans, having played at left back and centre back for the Portuguese boss.

However, with a new contract still not agreed Spurs might want to cash in on their defender.

  • TOTTENHAM are looking to add to their squad this January, and midfield is somewhere Jose Mourinho believes is where Spurs need strengthening.

One of their targets is QPR midfielder Eberechi Eze, who has been in sensational form for the Hoops in the Championship this term.

However, according to the Express, Spurs are put off by the £20m price tag QPR have put on the playmaker's head.

Eze has scored nine goals in 25 matches so far this season, while recording four assists.

The 21-year-old is thought of as one of the best players outside the Premier League, and QPR will be looking to make as much as possible on their standout star.

  • JOSE MOURINHO is preparing a £30m bid for Manchester United target Ricardo Pereira, according to reports.

The Portuguese right back has established himself as one of the best full backs in the Premier League with Leicester City.

Pereira, , joined the club in 2018 for a £21m deal, and instantly became a fans' favourite winning the Foxes’ Player of the Season in his first year.

Now, The Express claim Mourinho is plotting a move for his fellow countryman as he looks to strengthen his defence.

However, Spurs will be met with stubborn resistance by Leicester, who won't want to part with the right back who is committed to the club until 2023.

In fact, manager Brendan Rodgers has already insisted that none of his players will be sold this January.

“There will be nobody leaving in January, categorically,’ Rodgers recently stated.
