7.30am Man Utd news LIVE: Pogba to face Rochdale, Solskjaer right for job says Woodward, Ibrahimovic ‘should return’ – The Sun

MARCUS RASHFORD is to have a scan on the groin injury he picked up during Manchester United's 2-0 loss at West Ham.

The injury added to a miserable afternoon for Ole Gunnar Solskajer's Red Devils, who next host Rochdale in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night – and Paul Pogba is set to play.

  • PSG defender and Man Utd target Thomas Meunier insists he would rather play with ten “club men” with wooden legs than ten stars, in a thinly-veiled swipe at Neymar.

Brazilian star Neymar scored a late winner for the French champions on Sunday as they beat Lyon away.

But it was the performances of summer signings Ander Herrea and Idrissa Gueye who received praise from Meunier.

The right-back insisted the ex-Premier League pair are fighters on the field who “will give everything”, rather than worrying about “marketing”.

He said: “We do not take a goal, the opponents are very dangerous, we have good communication.

“And transfers, masterful, Gueye, Herrera – they are 'club men’, players fighting, not superstars, people who know what they have to do on the field.

“Marketing is important, but I prefer to play with ten guys who have a leg of wood than ten superstars, because they will give everything.”

  • JUAN MATA has revealed his sympathy for David Moyes' ill-fated attempt at the “impossible” job of replacing legendary Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson.

Moyes swapped Everton for the role he had dreamed of when all-time great boss Fergie finally bowed out in 2014.

But Moyes only lasted ten months and Spanish playmaker Mata reveals in his upcoming book “Juan Mata: Suddenly A Footballer” how it was so difficult to succeed Ferguson.

Mata said: “When I arrived, late January, the campaign was already halfway gone and things were not going too well.

“Results were not materialising and the atmosphere was not ideal.

“Just like André Villas-Boas at Chelsea, he tried his best, as he is a committed and dedicated manager, but we were just not performing well and results were not good enough.”

Mata added: “Even at his farewell, he showed integrity and said goodbye to us in a very classy way, shaking all our hands and looking us all in the eye, wishing us good luck for the future.”

  • MAN UTD should sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic again – it's a “no-brainer”.

That is the view of former Manchester United star Clayton Blackmore.

He said: “I definitely think we should ask Zlatan to come back, we need a target man – he's the best target in the world. 6ft 5in black belt, he's proved in the MLS he can still do it.

“I thought we let him go because his knee was dodgy – we've now given Zlatan and Rooney away for nothing.”

Before he added: “We need a target man so all our kids with pace can play off him [in a] 4-4-2, and close [them] down quicker.

    “Here ends the lesson, it's a no-brainier.”
