  • CHELSEA could be pipped to the signing of Moussa Dembele by former boss Maurizio Sarri, according to reports.

Dembele is believed to be one of three key Blues transfer targets, along with Jadon Sancho and Wilfried Zaha.

But Juventus have retained an interest in the forward for a much longer period of time, according to CalcioMercato.

The forward reportedly received an approach from the Old Lady in the summer and Chelsea's interest may force them to step up their pursuit.

Manchester United are also said to be in the running for the Lyon man.

  • OLIVIER GIROUD'S agent met Inter directors in Milan today.

Chelsea's France and former Arsenal striker, 33. who wants more regular games, has also been linked with Aston Villa and Newcastle.

  • ROB GREEN has claimed that Ruben Loftus-Cheek has the potential to be as influential for Chelsea as Eden Hazard if he stays injury free.

The former goalkeeper told The Athletic: “I just think the temperament as an individual and the ability he has, he can be anything he wants to be.

“He has the opportunity to do something like Hazard, if he stays fit and plays games.

“For me the power that he’s got, the strength… I don’t think he even knows the strength he has. He can position his body so that his opponent will just fly off into the distance — a bit like the cartoon character Obelix.

“He might just have one of those bodies, a bit like Vincent Kompany’s, which is too powerful for its own good. It just breaks down.”

  • EX-SPURS right-back Pascal Chimbonda has urged Jose Mourinho to make a move for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.

The former Arsenal man is a free agent in the summer and is expected to leave this month.

Speaking to Gambling.com, Chimbonda said: “I do think they need a striker you know. Harry Kane is out for five or six weeks – who is going to score the goals?

“Lucas Moura is not a natural striker, Spurs need someone more like Kane, a focal point in the penalty area.

“Dare I say it, but I think someone like Olivier Giroud fits the bill.

“It’s obvious Frank Lampard doesn’t fancy him at Chelsea, I’m sure Giroud wants out, so why not him?

“Yes, he’s a former Arsenal player, but he’s also a World Cup winner and presumably he’s available.

“I’d take him on loan, but if the opportunity was there to buy him, then I’d buy him. There’s no one else readily available on the market who has his quality.”
