  • SIR JIM RATCLIFFE – the third-richest man in Britain – has been given the all-clear to buy Ligue 1 side Nice.

He has previously been linked with taking over Manchester United or Chelsea.

The chairman and majority owner of chemical company Ineos Group received the approval of the French Competition Authority today.

An authority statement said: “The Authority has found that after the takeover, the new entity will have a very limited position in the different sectors of activity of professional football clubs, and in particular in the market for the transfer of professional players.”

  • DAVIDE ZAPPACOSTA has penned a new Chelsea contract – before being shipped off to Roma on loan.

The right-back is not needed by Frank Lampard this season following the emergence of Reece James.

And Zappacosta will now get a chance to impress for Serie A giants Roma.

Fans are sure to be surprised by the contract extension, which keeps the defender at Stamford Bridge until 2022.

But with club captain Cesar Azpilicueta failing to impress as an attacking full-back, Chelsea may want the option of bringing Zappacosta back to play second fiddle to Reece James next term.

  • PHIL PARKINSON and his assistant Steve Parkin have left Bolton.

It is believed that the pair told administrators before last weekend's loss at Tranmere that they wanted to leave the club and would not be in charge for Saturday's game against Ipswich.

Speaking to The Bolton News, Parkinson confirmed he had spoken to the League Manager’s Association and added: “I felt it was the right time to go”.

Jimmy Phillips is set to be handed the reins part-time as Wanderers begin the search for a new manager.

  • BARCELONA have had a transfer bid for Neymar rejected by PSG – but have been told the Brazilian is available on loan.

The forward has been pursuing a move away from the French capital all summer with La Liga giants Barca and Real Madrid battling for the Samba star’s signature.

Nou Camp chiefs lodged a loan bid with the option to make the move permanent for £137million next summer, according to Marca.

However, it is understood PSG rejected the offer and insisted Neymar can be loaned out, but only with the obligation to buy the player for £200m next season.

  • FRANCK RIBERY has touched down in Florence on a private jet after signing for new club Fiorentina.

The Frenchman, 36, joined the Serie A side after being released by Bayern Munich at the end of last season.

And after getting off the plane, Ribery was immediately snapped in a club polo with a scarf.

The new No7 was then greeted by a host of fans welcoming him to his new adventure.

Ribery took to social media to greet his new supporters.

He wrote on Twitter: “Hello Fiorentina. A new chapter for me and my family is beginning.

“Blessed and happy to sign a new contract at a great club in a great city.

“Looking forward to the future with my new teammates and all the fantastic fans here.

“I'm happy to be here, with my family.

“I've been talking with Fiorentina for a week, with Toni as well and he told me Fiorentina is a great club and the city's beautiful.

“I'm also happy because I enjoy the language. I don't speak it perfectly but 'va bene cosi' ['that's okay']”.
