  • XABI ALONSO has shut down rumours he will be leaving Real Sociedad for a coaching role at either Arsenal or Manchester City.

    The former Liverpool midfielder has been linked with a backroom position at both clubs, either to join compatriot Mikel Arteta in north London or replace his good friend at the Etihad.

    But Sociedad B manager Alonso told Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo: “No. I’m here at ease, my head is only here.

    “I have no other thoughts. No proposal has come to me and I am where I want to be. I’m very happy.

    “After finishing my career as a player, being able to start another one and return to Donostia [San Sebastian], to my club, seeing how things are being done, is a pleasure.

    “Things are going well. I’m just starting, I’m enjoying it and it’s serving me well. When the club and I decided to work here, everything made sense. Over time you reaffirm that it was a good decision.

    “I have fitted in with the players since arriving and I am working to acquire knowledge, experiences, getting it right, making mistakes, correcting and then gradually finding the way.”

  • CARLO ANCELOTTI has agreed a £14million to deal to take charge of Everton after being axed by Napoli.

    SunSport understand the 60-year-old will receive a £2.5million bonus for keeping the club in the Premier League this season.

    It is understood that Ancelotti will be officially unveiled on Thursday this week.

    He will pocket a basic salary £11.5million-per-year in Merseyside, with a bonus of £2.5m if he keeps the Toffees in the Premier League.

    The 21-year-old had previously been linked with Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United.
