  • ARSENAL and Manchester United have submitted offers to sign Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani, according to reports.

The Uruguayan forward, 32, – is out of contract in the summer – is thought to be on the brink of a move to Atletico Madrid.

Yet El Chiringuito claim that Cavani is also considering offers from United, Arsenal, and Inter Milan despite his preference being to play under Diego Simeone.

  • ARSENAL are considering a loan-with an option to buy for Atletico Madrid outcast Thomas Lemar, according to reports.

The Independent claim a loan fee of around £5million is being touted to bring the French International to north London, which would include a £50m obligation to buy.

Lemar is reportedly keen on a January move after falling out of favour under Diego Simeone, with Arsenal's rivals Spurs one of several European sides monitoring the situation.

The Gunners were desperate to sign the 24-year-old in the summer of 2018, while still at Monaco – but failed in their £90million pursuit.

  • ARSENAL target Adrien Rabiot has poured cold water on the idea of him sealing a switch to the Gunners.

The Juventus outcast told Tuttomercatoweb: “It’s true that 2019 was a very good year for me.

“I worked a lot, I joined Juventus and I think 2020 could be a positive year. I feel good physically, I follow the work that the coach tells us to do and I feel good here.

“I’m at the team’s disposal, I don’t have a problem with what side of the pitch I play at.

“On the right I can re-enter to the left, whilst on the left I will have a better opportunity to shoot. But it’s only important to be useful for the cause.

“The Italian league is not easy, but no championship is. I am adapting as I am learning about the characteristics of the tournament.”

  • FORMER ARSENAL target Mario Gotze will leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of this season, according to reports.

The German star's contract at Signal Iduna Park expires in six months and the club are willing to offer the possibility of an extension.

Ahead of the winter break, sporting manager Michael Zorc confirmed Borussia Dortmund were in talks with Gotze's father Jurgen.

But according to Bild, there is no chance that the World Cup Winner will sign a new deal.

  • ANALYSIS by Jeremy Smith: Arsenal star William Saliba is suffering injuries which are halting his young career but he is still shining at Saint-Etienne.

At the halfway stage of his season away, it’s difficult to draw too many conclusions having only played five times in the league.

Despite that, his performances – and more importantly the effect that it had on Saint-Etienne’s form – highlighted what an influential player he is already becoming.
