MANCHESTER UNITED are back in Premier League action as they host Aston Villa on Sunday.

It wasn't a night to remember for the Young Devils in midweek, with Ole's boys beaten 2-1 in Astana despite stand-in skipper Jesse Lingard netting his first goal in ten months.

To help bolster their attacking line, United have received a huge boost in their bid to sign Erling Braut Haaland after RB Salzburg revealed fellow Red Bull club, RB Leipzig, do NOT have first refusal.

Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho is having a difficult season at Borussia Dortmund – and the German side are willing to part ways with the Englishman as United, Chelsea and Liverpool circle.

  • MANCHESTER UNITED chief Ed Woodward is ready to make a £55million January bid for RB Salzburg striker Erling Haaland.

Italian media outlet Calciomercato claim United will make their move for the player – who has 23 goals in 19 games – in a month's time.

United want to get ahead of Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus, who all want the in-form Norwegian.

Haaland, 19, remains interested in a possible transfer to play under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at United.

Spanish outlet AS have claimed that United have an advantage in their transfer pursuit for the youngster, because he is excited about the idea of linking up with Solskjaer.

Haaland worked with Solskjaer at Molde in Norway.

  • MAX ALLEGRI could drop his one-year sabbatical if the Manchester United job became available.

Reports in Italy claim the former Juventus boss wants the top job at Old Trafford if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is axed.

Allegri planned to stay out of work until next season.

But it is reported that he would come back earlier than planned only if he is offered the United job.

The Italian has been linked with Arsenal.

  • MANCHESTER UNITED fans want starlet Dylan Levitt to get more first-team chances, claim the Manchester Evening News.

The midfielder impressed in the Europa League game against Astana.

Despite losing 2-1 to the Kazakhstan champions, United showed plenty of promise in the game, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer picking out youngsters for praise.

Levitt, along with Di'Shon Bernard and Ethan Laird, made their full United debuts and all gave strong showings.

“You have to put them on the pitch before you know if they are good enough,” said Solskjaer after the Astana game.

  • FORMER Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has not completely ruled out a move to Arsenal, claim Metro.

But the Argentine is holding out for a bigger job in Europe.

Pochettino, 47, has been strongly linked with a controversial move to the Emirates after Unai Emery was sacked by the Gunners.

Emery had endured a difficult 18 months at Arsenal and finally lost his job on Friday morning, with former midfielder Freddie Ljungberg placed in temporary charge of the club.

    Arsenal take on Norwich tomorrow.

  • JESSE LINGARD believes there is still more to come from Manchester United – and claimed they can still win a trophy this year.

United take on Aston Villa tomorrow as they look to keep up their push towards the top six.

Lingard told The Mirror:“There's always that hunger and fight for positions and obviously it goes down to form and where you're at club wise so, for me, it's about getting back to the Jesse that everyone knows and the Jesse Lingard that I know.”

United are ninth in the table but two points off fifth spot.
