The Chinese zodiac is just like the Western astrology we know and love, but the time division is different. Chinese astrology splits us into animal signs based on what year we were born. It’s different from the Gregorian calendar that goes from January to December though, as the Chinese astrology uses the lunar calendar. The Chinese New Year is on February 12 and it’s the Year of the Metal Ox. What is my Chinese zodiac sign?

Each year in the lunar cycle is represented by one animal, such as a rat or an ox.

The exact date for Lunar New Year varies from 21 January and February 20, so people that were in the same school year or are the same age as you may not have the same sign as you.

Just like in Western astrology, each sign has different characteristics and traits.

However, In Chinese astrology, your sign represents how others see you or how you view yourself.

The real game-changer is that in Chinese astrology you have four signs.

You are also assigned an animal sign by the month you were born (your inner animal), the day you were born (your true animal) and the hour you were born (your secret animal).

For example, you might appear to be a snake on the outside because of the year you were born, but you are a dragon on the inside, you’re truly a goat, and you’re an ox secretly.

So how do you figure out how FOUR Chinese zodiac signs?

First of all, start with your year of birth.

Rats are born in 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008, and 2020.

Oxes are born in 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, 2021.

Tigers are born in 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022.

Rabbits are born in 2023, 2011, 1999, 1987, 1975, 1963, 1951, 1939, 1927.

Dragons are born in 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, and 2024.

Snakes are born in 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, and 2025.

Horses are born in 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014, and 2026.

Goats are born in 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015, 2027.

Monkeys are born in 2018, 2016, 2004, 1992, 1980, 1968, 1956.

Roosters are born in 2029, 2017, 2005, 1993, 1981, 1969, 1957, and 1945.

Dogs are born in 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018, and 2030.

Pigs are born in 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019, and 2031.

People born between February 4 and March 5th are inner Tigers
People born between March 6 and- April 4 are inner Rabbits
People born between April 5 and May 4 are inner Dragons
People born between May 5 and June 5 are inner Snakes
People born between June 6 and July 6 are inner Horses
People born between July 7 and August 6 are inner Goats
People born between August 7 and September 7 are inner Monkeys
