You Are Cordially Invited to Watch the First Teaser For the Downton Abbey Movie

Just when we thought the Downton Abbey movie was never going to happen, the film adaptation of the popular period series was officially given the green light in June 2017. Now, we have our first look at what’s sure to be a stunning feature.

The British period drama ended its sixth season in the US in 2016, and ever since, the production team behind the show had been hinting that a feature film would eventually make its way to screens. Maggie Smith, Michelle Dockery, Hugh Bonneville, and a handful of others are set to reprise their roles as members of the Crawley family. Although we don’t see any of the principal cast in the brief teaser trailer, above, we do catch a glimpse of the sprawling Crawley residence, an unidentified man riding a motorcycle up to the home, the housekeepers milling about outside, and a parade presumably celebrating war heroes.

It’s not much to go on, but since the film doesn’t hit theaters until Sept. 3, 2019, we have plenty of time to theorize.
