Woman quits corporate job to work in McDonald’s – but cries on first day

A woman quit her corporate job to work in McDonald's instead as she wanted to 'get out the house' – but was in tears on her first day.

Climbing the career ladder is no easy task so many would assume Laysia Mariah struck gold once she landed a marketing role, and got to work from home too.

Despite many people seeing the attractive side of working inside your own four walls in a 'professional' career, the beauty, from London, decided to sack in her position.

"I quit my work from home corporate job to work in McDonald's", she shared in a TikTok clip which racked up 70,000 views and counting.

Laysia filmed herself getting ready for a hard day of work at the popular fast food chain and mocked she looked like a "little boy" while tightening the belt on her trousers.

She then listed her reasons for ditching her working from home role for flipping burgers.

"Working from home made me lazy, literally turned me into a cannabis fiend", she claimed.

"And, for me, I need to be out of the house to be motivated so I got a job out of the house to just get me out and get me more motivated and stop being so lazy.

"I find I get more done when I have things to do."

The now-fast food worker had a bite to eat on her break before she revealed her verdict at the end of the day.

In the locker room Laysia appeared to be in tears as she swiped the branded cap off and threw it on the ground.

"This was me after my first day, I don't know if I'm going to go back tomorrow but you know I've got bills to pay", she candidly admitted.

"It's peak out here."

Staying honest, Laysia noted in the caption that she already felt better by getting out of the house.

"Rethinking my life decisions but here we go… I definitely feel better getting up out of the house but WORK IS LONG AND I HATE PEOPLE", she explained.

Since going viral, many people took to the comments to give some advice to Laysia about her career decision.

Some felt that she had made the wrong decision.

One user urged: "Girl, just find a job with an office. Way less stress and more pleasant smelling than McDonald’s lol.

"Good luck girl."

Another person fretted: "Worst decision ever sister.

"I spent three years trying to get out of that hellish job. The beeping still haunts me."

While a third noted: "The amount of money I’m saving by not going to the office… I love it."

Someone else said: "Does your previous job need someone to fill the role you left cause I thrive at working from home."

However, others were able to relate to Laysia's situation and praised her for being true to herself.

One person commented: "If this isn’t me. The working from home ain’t it, specially after lockdown."

A second user praised: "This level of self reflection and dedication to growth is amazing."

And, this person related: "I’ve been thinking about doing something like this too.

"Working from home is so isolating."

As a fourth cheered: "Well done for the taking that step!

"Self analysis is everything."
