Kate Middleton has her hands full with three kids and a royal title. But despite being one of the most well-known women in the world, Kate still makes time to be a motherly figure to her three young children. To them, she’s simply “Mom.” And when the public spotted Kate doing this during the week of Christmas, it was clear she’s the same as any regular mom.

Kate may be royalty, but she still spends time with her kids just like any other mom

Prince William and Kate Middleton have three adorable children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Charlotte, the middle child, has captivated fans of the royal family. Her precious royal wave and adorable outfit choices always capture the public’s attention. But she likely has a very close relationship with her mother, too. Since Charlotte is the only daughter, she and Kate have a special bond that Kate doesn’t share with either of her sons. However, Kate loves her two sons just as much. And George, who is now five, is already developing into a lovely young man.

Kate took Charlotte and her brother, Prince George, to run some last-minute errands

Kate, in real-mom fashion, had some last-minute Christmas errands to run. She brought Charlotte and George along as she breezed through a discount store just a short while before Christmas. All moms love discount stores, right? However, the kids appeared unenthused, the same way most children are when their mothers take them shopping. The two kids were sitting on the floor while their mother shopped. It was nice in a way, since it came as a surprise that the royal children were allowed to sit on the floor for even a minute. It’s a small action that shows they’re regular kids just like the rest of the public.

Kate referred to Charlotte as “Poppet” and fans thought it was adorable

When Kate wanted her kids to get up off the floor, she looked as Charlotte and said, “Get up, Poppet,” and onlookers thought it was too cute. Rather than refer to her as “Charlotte” or “Love,” Kate used a lovely nickname for her little girl that shows the affection she has for her children. The name has been used in the royal family before; according to People, William has addressed his wife as “Poppet” during public outings in the past. It’s a small bit of affection the family members show toward one another. Plus, with the kids sitting on the floor while their mother runs errands, it painted the most normal picture ever: George and Charlotte were behaving just like regular kids, and Kate was acting like a regular mom.

It proves Kate is the same as any mom at heart

Kate has a lot on her plate between being a full-time mother and a full-time royal. But the bond she shares with her children is the same as any mother’s bond who isn’t in such an intense spotlight. At the end of the day, Kate is still a regular mom. She spends time with her children, she runs errands with them, and she even gives them adorable nicknames. She may be royalty, but she’s no different than any other mother.
