Sweet! M&M’s New Chocolate Bars Combine 2 Classic Candies

The M&M’s family is growing! After months of waiting, Mars, the candy company that produces the bite-sized morsels, announced on Friday, December 7, that M&M’s Chocolate Bars are now rolling out in retail stores nationwide. The bars, which consist of smooth milk chocolate with whole M&M’s Minis scattered throughout, come in five tasty flavors – peanut, milk chocolate, crispy, almond and crispy mint.

Mars first teased this new product in September, sharing a photo of the bars on Instagram and writing that they would be “coming to you soon.” The new permanent additions to the brand’s iconic candy lineup are the result of several years of development. In fact, a team of M&M’s Chocolate product developers tested a total of nine flavors and four different formats before landing on the perfect recipe and shape to ensure “each piece includes the ideal ratio of smooth chocolate and crunchy M&M’s Minis,” according to a press release.

What’s more? To celebrate the release of its latest product, M&M’s is bringing the bars to life with a pop-up in New York City called The M&M’s Chocolate Bar. The temporary storefront of sorts is scheduled to be open from Friday to Sunday, December 9, and will offer customers a taste of the bars, complete with an immersive experience.

“We aim to create innovative ways for our fans to enjoy M&M’s, and the new M&M’s Chocolate Bars embody that spirit with a taste experience unlike any other,” said Allison Miazga-Bedrick, M&M’s brand director, via the press release. “We can’t wait to offer holiday shoppers their first try of the creamy, delicious flavors through an experience that reminds all of us to take time out to truly enjoy this season.”

The colorful pop-up will include a massive Velcro wall where attendees can get “stuck” in a chocolate bar just like the M&M’s Minis, share a ride on an M&M’s Chocolate Bar-themed sled and cozy up to the “bar” for coffee or hot cocoa.
