Student gets dress coded for her gym outfit as her top is deemed ‘too sexual’

A young woman was told she had violated her school gym's dress code policy – but viewers couldn't believe their eyes.

Allison Gallup, from Logan in Utah, US, posted her questionable workout clothes on TikTok and joked about the purpose of the strict clothing policy.

"I just got dress coded at my campus gym for wearing a 'tank top'," she said while standing in front of a mirror in a bathroom.

In the clip, she wore a white logo T-shirt and a black leggings without exposing her modesty.

The T-shirt has a unicorn at the front and plain white at the back – it's just long enough to cover her midriff.

"My unicorn graphic tee was a little too sexual I guess, it's from H&M," she added, joking she is "grateful" that the school has a dress code to help her "keep virtue".

Friends and viewers on TikTok also found the school rules "ridiculous".

"Honour code is about control and has very little basis in doctrine. Jesus would probably chastise the honour code office," one joked.

A second penned: "Are guys also not allowed to wear shirts like that? That's ridiculous. Did they make you do the 'three fingers' to prove it was too short?"

"I just want to let you know I fought tooth and nail with honour code, it's sh*t there," a third added.

Allison's school handbook listed several points regarding students dress code – and "tank shirts" are included as violations.

The web version of the handbook stated: "Students shall not wear clothes that are mutilated, cut off, or immodest. (e.g. short shorts, mini-skirts, bare midriffs, halter-tops, spaghetti straps, tank shirts, or similar clothing).

"Clothing shall cover the midriff, underwear, backs, and cleavage at all times. Skirts, dresses and shorts must be at least mid-thigh length or longer when seated."
