'Southern Charm': John Pringle Felt Madison LeCroy Used Him for Revenge – 'I Was a Bit of a Pawn'

Southern Charm star John Pringle may be a newcomer to the scene, but it wasn’t long before he was embroiled in relationship drama. The situation that arose was a result of Pringle’s interest in Madison LeCroy, Austen Kroll’s on-again-off-again girlfriend. Things eventually came to a head, and Pringle wound up feeling used alongside a tinge of regret for his own actions. In fact, he described himself as being a “bit of a pawn” for LeCroy.

John Pringle was interested in Madison LeCroy

John Pringle arrived fresh to the Southern Charm scene this season, and was immediately drawn to Madison LeCroy. Pringle seemed to receive pushes from Patricia Altschul in LeCroy’s direction, and figured he was good to go.

However, Pringle later realized that Austen Kroll was still seriously hung up on Madison LeCroy, and eventually backed off from the whole ordeal. Now, he looks back on what went down with some embarrassment, and feels bad for putting Kroll in an uncomfortable position.

“Looking back I didn’t realize how probably Austen was in love with her. I just thought they were in a toxic relationship in a way. It wasn’t truly confirmed until [the party on] Capers [Island]. But I was interested because I was like the new guy in town, I think she’s pretty, she seemed pretty cool,” he told Showbiz Cheatsheet.

“But I could have been better. I could have been more candid or just in the shadows or just not do anything. But yeah, you know, I thought it was an interesting prospect. I do think I was, in a way, directed and prodded towards that.”

Eventually Pringle and Kroll mended fences and became fast friends, rather than romantic enemies.

“In Capers, I saw some stuff that made me open my eyes a little bit more to the situation. … And in the finale, we start to become better buds and bridge that gap. He definitely showed me some kindness. We’ve now become pretty good buds,” he explained.

John Pringle felt used

Now, the Southern Charm star suspects he may have been used by Madison LeCroy to get back at Austen Kroll. In fact, he wonders if Patricia Altschul was in on it as well.

“I did think Patricia had the idea. I think so a little bit. Miss Patricia knew what she was doing! She knew she could control my mind,” he explained jokingly.

As for Madison LeCroy, John Pringle suspects he was being used like a pawn.

“I just don’t necessarily subscribe to the fact that Madison is interested in me at all. I think I was a bit of a pawn and I think she is a master player of relationship chess,” he told Entertainment Tonight.

He doesn’t think the ‘Southern Charm’ couple can split

At this point, John Pringle isn’t convinced that Madison LeCroy and Austen Kroll could even call it off for good. At least not yet.

“I just don’t think those two kids can quit each other, to be honest. They’re either just, like, crushing it in bed… I don’t know. We’ve all been there before, right?” the Southern Charm star asked Entertainment Tonight.
