Single mum discovers her online FIANCE is actually her ex-boyfriend

Young single mum who got ENGAGED to her hunky online boyfriend of six months discovers he’s actually an older man she dated a few times who is ‘in love with her’ on Catfish UK

  • Emma, a singer from Liverpool, spoke to handsome jetsetter Harry every day
  • The pair discussed a wedding date and Harry becoming stepdad to Emma’s son
  • But Harry was revealed to be her ex-boyfriend George, who was using pictures of a personal trainer called Komal

A single mother who thought she’d found the love of her life online discovered her suave entrepreneur fiancé was actually her much older ex on last night’s Catfish UK.

Emma, a singer from Liverpool, spoke to handsome jetsetter Harry every day on the phone, but the pair had never met and  only spoken via FaceTime when his room was darkened.

The artist, who performs as ‘Emshey’,  described Harry as ‘the one’ and was excited that he wanted to become a step-dad to her son Malakai.

But she had concerns about who he really was as the pair had never met, and contacted MTV’s Catfish UK to enlist the help of hosts Oobah Butler and  Julie Adenuga.

They soon discovered that ‘Harry’ didn’t exist and the profile was created by a man named George who she’d been on two dates with.

He was using pictures of a personal trainer from Ipswich called Komal, who had a girlfriend and was clueless about George’s scheme.

‘Harry was messaging me on Instagram and SnapChat and we just decided that we want to be with each other,’ Emma told hosts Julie and Oobah via video call ahead of them travelling to Liverpool to meet her.

‘He just got everything that a girl would ever look for in a man.

‘He wants to be a stepfather to my son, which is obviously my number one priority because I am a single mum.

‘He’s so sweet. He sends gifts like this necklace, he sent me flowers, he sent me shoes.

‘I had a video call with him. It was super super dark and kind of blurry so I couldn’t make it out.

‘He was in the business class lounge, and had a cockney accent’.

Not hopeful about ‘Harry’ being who he says he is, Julie told Oobah: ‘What do you think about that FaceTime call?

‘I’ve flown enough to know there’s definitely WiFi in the business lounge, unless he’s hiding in the toilet cubicle’.

‘That sounded like gobbledygook to me’ Oobah added.’It’s our job to explore all the negatives and the unpleasant realities and to figure out what is actually going on here.’

After arriving in Liverpool, Julie and Oobah met with Emma who told them more about her romance with Harry.

Hosted by radio and TV presenter Julie Adenuga and journalist and author Oobah Butler, each week Catfish UK will be helping love-struck hopefuls get to the bottom of their online relationships and uncover the truth of who they have been speaking to

Describing the day she met Harry as ‘magical’, Emma explained: ‘He’s just everything that I could hope for in a guy.

‘He looks amazing. He just takes every single box. He is literally perfection. I’m quite obsessed with the boy, to be honest It’s a bit scary.

‘He’s an entrepreneur. He’s got property portfolios, whenever I speak to him he’s always go in here there and everywhere.

‘To me it’s very important that I’m a single mum, so the fact that he’s recognised that and he’s willing to take us both on is a special thing.

‘He’s quite traditional and I’m quite traditional as well just talking about the future and children and marriage,  we’ve discussed like locations and the dates [of the wedding].

‘We’d like to get it [the wedding] done by this time next year, so we’re looking at what the year [to get married].

‘Harry is special. I’m not usually one of those girls who’s like just quickly run into things. I’ve done that before made mistakes and to be fair with this guy changed my whole mind on everything.

Emma went on that Harry had sent cards and flowers after ‘letting him down’.

She added that she went from Liverpool to London to meet him, but he didn’t show up because his flight from Dubai where he had been on business  was cancelled.

Determined to get Emma to meet Harry, Julie and Oobah began investigating Harry’s profile.

Their suspicion grew when they found his WhatsApp picture of a sports car  was a stock image.

Next the pair noticed a picture of him wearing a hoodie with the name of a small brand emblazoned across it.

After finding the brand’s Instagram page they noticed that a man named Komal had modelled for them.

‘Harry isn’t Harry, Harry is Komal,’ Julie said, noticing the pictures.

‘50,000 followers and the founder of a fitness company, this is the real deal,’ Oobah added about Komal’s Instagram profile.

After finding out the news that Harry wasn’t who he says he was, Emma (pictured) burst into tears

The pair then called Komal who confirmed he didn’t know Emma, and that he already had a girlfriend.

After finding out the news, Emma burst into tears.

‘I’m just so shocked, I just can’t. Who does that?’ she cried.

‘I’ve been making plans with someone else. Who have I been sharing my deepest secrets with if it’s not him’.

‘It’s her worst nightmare,’ Julie added to Oobah. ‘Her father, her marriage, everything, it’s all gone’.

After a text from Julie, Harry agreed to speak with the hosts but only if Emma wasn’t there.

When he eventually answered the phone, ‘Harry’ insisted he was the man in the pictures, despite Oobah telling him they’d spoken to Komal.

Oobah noted to Emma that the man on the phone had a northern accent – and didn’t sound like he was from London.

The next day ‘Harry’ text Emma to say he could meet with her immediately in a local park.

Emma immediately recognised Harry as George, a white haired older man she’d been on a few dates with last year.

‘Are you joking me? This has been you the whole time?’ Emma asked, as George approached her with a bunch of flowers.

‘This necklace was you?’ she went on as she ripped her necklace off and threw it at him.

‘I’ve been wasting my time for six months, are you joking?’ she continued.

‘Everything I said has been from me,’ George said.

‘We were together. We met and went on a first date and got to know each other, we really connected and clicked, we took it day by day, week by week.

‘After we broke up I knew she was the one I wanted to be with’.

He added that he ‘forgot how good looking Emma was when she was mad’ as she angrily rejected him.

‘I knew if I’d tried to speak with Em she wouldn’t speak to me. If I could speak I knew we could carry on with the rapport,’ he added to Julie and Oobah.

‘I understand I shouldn’t have done it, but it’s the only way I could think to speak to her, she’s the love of my life’.

‘I’m sorry for what happened, I do want to be with you. I want to carry on our relationship the way it was,’ he went on.

Viewers were shocked by the scenes, with one writing George looked ‘old enough to be Emma’s Dad’.

‘What is this. This guys old enough to be her dad,’ said one.

‘Absolutely loving Catfish, they are doing an amazing job,’ added another.

‘Once again we have an ex that wants them back but f**** it up by being a catfish and now its not gonna happen’.
